SHANE WHO???

Ron... where's the love man?

I am living on a boat in Pirates Cove and yes I have given shane the grand opportuniy of sleeping on my spacious day bunk for the past 4 days and......He has fished on some of the good boats out of pcyc and I feel blessed to have the part time job I have in that same marina. However, I took Shane out to a little gettogether tonight and can't say anything more than the fact that he is passed out no more than 2 feet from me at the moment. Maybe he's fished one-to-many days......? Albeit I've learned a little something from him and hope he maybe took at least a smidgeon from me, I can't contest his dedication to the sport. He has pretty much done in a week what I plan to accomplish in a summer....learn to fish from all these guys. It is what it is and he's done what he needed to do, I'll leave it at that for the night.

Sorry TunaTeaser1,
Yep guys heres another one anxious to learn all he can. Not to hijack this thread. But, I've hired Alex for a fill in mate. I threw him to the dogs on tues. he never fished for kings. Only had to tell him once what to do and he didn't miss a one. Its guys like Shane and Alex that make this sport what it is. Sometime as a mate its nothing more than being entertaining, sometimes your a teacher,But knowing all you can know makes you one of the best. As mom always told me, whatever you do in life, do it to the best of your ability. I salute these guys and all who strive to be the best in this sport!

Great thumb-nail sketch of the kid, Glenn.

Shane is a good guy, I was happy for him when we had a chance to chat the other day and he filled me in on his exploits in PC. I sure wish my son had his drive and passion, hopefully some of it will rub off.

We're gonna be hearing alot about this kid in the future, and it won't be on the internet....it will be in the awards tent at places I can't afford to go to.

You have got to love a mother's advice. I can recall my mom telling me that there is no Dress Rehearsal in life. Whatever you do, try to be the best at it. One thing you never want to do is look back and say boy i wsh i would have........

Mistakes will be made, sure, but if you give it your all, you can hold your head high and be proud.

Gaffman is definitely off to the right start, he is getting school under his belt, and then getting fishing school under his fighting belt.

Hey guys,

Thank you all for the kind words. Glenn, thanks man.....

Now for the breakdown.

Ive been doing a lot of fishing and learning recently. I did not fish today due to a blow but fished 6 days strait before this. to some on here thats not much, for me, its alot ,but im learning to take it and that nothing beats a good meal and sleep at night.

Fishing has been pretty good, we have been catching god numbers of tunas, my slowest day so far has been 4 and my best has been 14. caught a lot of mahis, some nice bulls.

I have come to PC to learn billfishing, although this is not there prime time for them they are here. And these mates/captains know more about these pointy nosed fish then i will probably ever hope to learn.

I was offered a oppurtunity to work the pit of a very nice private boat a few days ago. We were targeting blue marlin, 400LB leader, islanders/ chuggers with horse ballys. Basically big tackle. I had a knock down on my short rigger, islander with a horsey, i did the jig jig drop deal thinking it was a mahi. The rod bowed over and i handed it to the angler. the fish stayed down and never jumped once. i didnt know what it was fought like a mahi, acted like a tuna. Finially it came up write off the back of the boat, SAILDOG , snatch the leader quickly and after a few wraps pops off, No matter, RELEASE Even though it wasnt a traditionial fight or situation for a billfish, it was bill......... The first sailfish i have ever seen. Pretty creatures. well while pulling in the marina i ran up the flag, right then i knew, thats as good as it gets in my opinion at offshore fishing. GOD I LOVE THIS GAME

Well today and tommarow are blow days, but saturday i start fishing again and hopefully through all next week.

Last week one of the boats i was fishing on had a slight error, the mate didnt show, so i was offered the oppurtunity to work the pit, fish head on again the OI charter fleet. This aint braging or cockyness, because again, i dont stand a candlestick to these guys, but we did have a good day and actually were one of the high boats in the marina.
The man i thank for teaching me enough so that when that sitaution came, i knew what to do, and how to do it, without hesiatatin is my mentor WAHOONBOX AKA marty. guyz, without this man teaching me what he has, i would have never ever been semi prepared to step on that boat as a mate.
Thanks Box.

To all the boyz at the Big rock, i know its a little late, but good luck and ive been rootn for ya(pretty work run off)

Thanks again for all the kind words guyz, now im off to snooz land...............
