I left Havelock and Daryl on the Blue Water Lady telling him I would be gone for a week to fish the WMO. Had a ball fishing with my bud Jake Overboard. We release 2 short fish that week but had a blast. Got back home Fri night and heard Dave Mason on the Monica M II was taking his boat back to ME to fish Giants and fish his way back. How could I turn this down. Ever since I caught my first BFT I have wanted a chanceto catch a real GIANT. Monday morn 0400 at the boat and we are off from MHC. Straight to the Rock 550 line 30 FTM in the first 15 min 3 nice hoos in the box then nothing. Decide to start making the move the the north. about 2:30 bam 3 more hoos within 20 mins then nothing. Make the turn around Hatteras and find a beautiful rip with a 2deg temp break, nada. 2030 we pull them in and start the run to OCM at a ripping 12 knts. Spent the night in OCM and headed out 0330. The plan was to hit the canyons and get some tunas but hurricane Bill was hot on our heels so we only got to drag through the chicken for a couple hours. Again nada. We had the hjoops in the box so I pulled one out, filleted it and stuck it in the pan with some modest seasonings, danm that was good. Dave says " we"ve been eating sandwiches for the last 2 days when we could have been eating this. What were we thinking! Pull into Mauntauck (excuse the spelling) at 2330, tie up to a pier at a local fish market, Pauls I thing Mako Wish and the locals know what I'm talking about. We find a cool Bar and Grill right there, starts with an S, can't remember the name but they had cold beer good food and great coffee in the AM. Hit the rack about 0130, about 0230 a boat is trying to pull in and says we got to move. Shit I just got to sleep. 0530 the charters start to show up. Up and At em, find the coffee, get a shower after 3 days and get rid of the fish. 1030 we are out of there through the ditch to ME. We set a course to the Cove to check it out, get there just before dark and decide to drift for the night. No Baits to drop. Wake at the crack of dawn as we approach the ridges we see what every BFT fisherman looks for, birds, whales and bait, no love. We troll onward and finally get a nibble on a bar on a Avet 50, 60 inch fish. Troll for another hour then head for the hill/ South Bristol. This place is beautiful. Quaint fishing village just like the pics you've seen. My EX rented a place here for 2 wks and invited me to stay with her... ok. I hooked up with one of the local lobster men right off and got 5 for 18.00$ yum. We fished the first 2 days w/o a nibble. the 3rd day we got a breeze and put up a kite with a live BM. about 10:00 I hear a splash and catch it out of the corner of my eye. I watch as it circles around like a shark. I see the line go to the side, the pin pops and I wait for it to come tight. Then he starts ripping. Fiesty little devil but in a short while we were very disappointed, 69". Next day, same spread, about noon a ballon breaks free and starts ripping. Fish feels a lot better, takes a bit longer to get hin to the boat. We are taking our time with 130 leader. We get him to the boat and while trying to get a measurement he circles under the boat and breaks off, shit he was close. About 10 days since our last nookie, we lite out tomorrow for 4 or five days. Could you ask for a better vacation? NE is beatiful, chilly in the AM, reminds me of MN, thats why I left. Sorry I have my camera but no cord to post Pics.

. Quick question for the block, why are you using such light leader (130) if you are fishing with a kite your leader would be out of the water, wouldn't it? Why wouldn't you use heavier leader if it is going to be out of the water. Just my thoughts you are the expert
