    Mustad - too many choices!

    HELP!

It seems like every rig I own has a different hook type/style and nothing makes sense to me anymore! Can someone help provide a quick summary for the uses for each of these hook numbers, please? Most importantly, which ones are preferred for trolling ballys (weighted, skipping, split, etc) and which ones are better for strips and which ones are for lures? As for my application, 20-30# tackle altantic trolling for sail/phin/ftball/king/wahoo.

I guess many of them can end in S, 1S, T, DT and other designators. A clarification of when/which is appreciated!

do not know if you even need that many but i stick with the basics.. i have been using SS hooks but i find they are a little softer then the original DT and such so i kind of throw it around when i rig depending since i have tons of them.

3407dt are what i use for ballyhoo. Even though i went to all owner long shanks that is what i tend to use.

7691S is what i use for trolling.. this is a southern tuna style tuna hook and i tend to troll alot with theseon smaller rigs. this is good and stainless.

7691dt is also good and little stronger i think than the ss and is duratin.

3412 - dont know anything about them. lol

7690 - didnt think they made one. lo hahah sorry

7692 come in Duratin. This is also good for smaller rigs and smaller tuna. It is forged with a wire end bend and a tapered eye.. this is also good for some bottom fishing and such for bigger fish. also tarpon!

7731 - Another good trolling hook! this is the sea demon hook. all applications offshore is prety ok with this hook.

7732 - stainless steel long point short barb hook! tuna, billfish, anythign else!!!

7754 - This is a short hook which you can tandem with!It is good for double hooked bait strips and such. 1/2 the lengh. and very good since they are 2x hooks!

7766 - This is another short shanked hook. they call it a tarpon hook but can be used for anything but not really needed at all.

9175 - Not sure about this one. sorry!

WITH THE GOVERNMENT TAKING AWAY SO MANY OF OUR FISHING RIGHTS LATELY ....LIKE JHOOKS IN NATURAL BAIT FOR TOIURNAMENTS......I HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHY THEY ALLOW A S/S HOOK EVER!.....I HAVE CAUGHT SEVERAL BILLFISH WITH S/S HOOKS EMBEDDED INTO THE BONE AND MEAT AND THE FLESH HAS OVERGROWN ONTO THE HOOK ITSELF.....THEREFORE....I DECLARE A S/S HOOK TO BE THE ENEMY HERE AND NOT THE J

7731 IS A GREAT ALROUND TROLLING HOOK.....I LOVE THIS HOOK ESPECIALLY WHEN TARGETTIONG WAHOO AND BLUE MARLIN

AND THE SIZE OF THE HOOK SHOULD BE DETERMINED BY THE SIZE OF THE BAIT...LIKE NEVER USE A 10/0 HOOK WITH A MEDIUM BALLYHOO.....THE HOOK IS WAY TO BIG

7691 AND 7692 SOUTHERN TUNA HOOK IS ANOTHER FAVORITE OF MINE...ONE HOOK HAS A HEAVIER WIRE THAN THE OTHER

EAGLE CLAW 2004 CIRCLE HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME FOR WHITES AND SAILS BUT I DO HEAR SOME HORROR STORIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS HOOK...

THIS IS A GOOD QUESTION YOU HAVE ASKED HERE.....

I HAVE SEEN GUYS USE A FULL ASSORTMENT OF HOOKS IN THEIR SPREAD AT THE SAME TIME AND THIS DAZZLES ME..............HECK I HAVE EVEN SEEN MULTI SIZE SWIVELS USED IN A 7 ROD MEATFISH SPREAD....NOW IF THAT AIN'T ABOUT AN ODD ONE...
