guy is dead on balls accurate. Almost like hes actually out there and knows what the conditions really are as opposed to the knowitalls who sit behind closed doors all day and think they know whats up.
We should get this guy to argue to open up the dogfish fishery more.
Your right John, we need to get our Senators and Congressmen in there speaking. A was amazed how she limited what is going on to "some Coastal areas" having a economic impact and how good she thinks the data is. They will not act till physically we show in numbers.
They rely on their "science" . Truth is they need to go out with real fisherman. Collect true data, not just send some flunky up and down coastlines asking questions to tourist and non fisherman........ just because I don't have a cooler full of fish don't mean they're not there, maybe I don't know how to fish???
I know it goes deeper than that but I'v seen this happen on our coast.
Something about the way she looks reminds me of an Oyster toad. Glad at least one congressman gets it.
Guys, this senator is on the issue. But hes one of a few. Unfortunately the states that border the ocean will be the ones speaking the loudest and the most. This will not get the job done. What we need is states on the interior to come on board and stand with us.
Yeah, you say, "how the hell we gonna do that ACE"! Well, you can start by doing this......those Charter fisherman that take clients offshore, they dont all live within a couple hundred miles of the coast. When they come on board, explain to them that if they enjoy going fishing they need to call THEIR States US Represenatives and have them to support us. Have them to sign a Petition as they come on board that shows their support. I gurantee you it will bring more exposure to this issue!
If youre not in the charter business but have clients or friends in other states, call them and explain to them whats going on. Have them to call their Representatives and get on board with us. We all know other people in other states, this is what it takes to get things done.
Its not much but it can help.![]()
Having been in the military, in a rank of little power but lots of responsibility. I was placed in new jobs that I knew little about but had to answer to higher ups. I read the SOP's, had countless meetings, the main thing being how to make this look good and justify someones job, in this case NMFS, or create one. If I really wanted to know how things worked I'd just go watch, ask questions and TALK TO THE FOLKS THAT DID THE JOB! The Blue collar as you will. It made it a whole lot easier to make end decisions, popular or not. In this case WHO better than the fishermen to collect the data. Where are these so called scientists collecting their data and how? I know fisherman here in MHC that go out and can't catch a BSB over 12" mean while the commercial/charter boat's come in with an abundance when in season. We all know this stuff. What gets me is her insistance that a few scientists know more about the stock and well being of the fishery than several thousands of AMERICANS that rely on that stock for their lively hood. So how do we hit the POLITICIANS that hurt us ...... VOTE, call or email your congressmen/women. There where many great speakers in DC but only from coastal states. Only when the inlanders can't buy their fresh lobsters in the tank at the grocery, no more shrimp, oysters, clams and ocean fish will they start to ask questions about why. They need to know now that we are in trouble of loosing the ability to provide it to them. Coastal states have done and are doing what they can, this is an AMERICAN PROBLEM.
Sorry about the rant, I'm just sick of this administration and afraid of what is happening to the USA!
Co-Operative Science - my ass.
I may be mistaken, but last time I looked - Commercial fishermen are required to file a Landing Report in order to sell their fish.
Notice I said landing - No accounting for bycatch, how many snappers, groupers, etc are released - dead or alive...
There is absolutely bogus info on Recreational catches - The Wildlife guy may do a few creel checks, or walk the docks - but again no accounting for released fish
Something stinks - PEW
LuBITCHco seemed to be doin alot of .ahhh . oaaah ... backed in a corner speech
