The last week has been a great one for the Gottafly and Predator boats out of Wrightsville Beach, NC. Each day found the boats in the fish and most days we were cut short earlier on the trip than thought as many fish were given that free ride home. The nearshore trips found Spanish jumping all around the boat and sometimes almost jumping into the boat With all the crews having a fun time in calm seas as well as great weather.

We had from folks from 4 years old to 87 years old on the boat one day, it was a blast to see these 2 have so much fun...
Paw Paw said he could sit in the chair and reel all day...

As always the stream trips are an adventure on the Predator and today started out with another beautiful sunrise with the sun the color of Mars with the look of Saturn with rings.
It was as if Poseidon was letting me know that we were in for another great trip and soon we found out how great it was going to be. Stopped 5 miles short of the break @ 0800 and had 3 lines out when the left long takes off and a 29 pound King burns it down. One of the 2 kids jumps into the chair and the battle was on and shortly the King came to Warrens gaff and into the box as I watched that little black and white furry thing fly out of the boat for that long swim home. Warren hands me the shotgun rod, puts the planer rod back in, turns to put the line in the right short and planer rod goes off with the first one of some nice Wahoos for the day. Another fish comes to the boat and as Warren goes to gaff it, the Wahoo opens its mouth and hook falls out and it fades off the corner of the boat, that was the only fish we lost for the day. Got 4 more lines out when we had a double on Dolphin that were soon in the boat. For the next 3 hours that how it was with singles, doubles, triples and we even had 5 on once. One of the days when you could not get all the lines in the water before we were bit again.

One of the coolest catches of the day was this Banded Rudder fish
About 11:00 am one of the Dads said that they had all the fish they wanted/ needed and that they would like to return the dock, I was in shock and knew that Warren nor I wanted to leave with this bite going on but turned the boat back to the hill and headed to the barn, still picking on the Dolphin and Wahoos on the way for the next 5 miles before getting wiped out again from fish and pulling the riggers up for the ride back.
One of the Wahoos...think he's happy...
Our crew for the day...with what they could hold...![]()
Meal of the day...Left to right, Cigar Minnow, about the size of your thumb, Sargassum Puffer fish and Butter fish...
While I cleaned the fish for the crew, Warren fixed a rod for the kids so they could catch String Rays from the dock, as it was going to be a while till I had the fish cleaned and it was not long before we heard the screams from the kids as they hooked and landed the first one on a Dolphin belly strip...I should have taken a picture of it was it was near 30 pounds...
