Nice catch Captain
Gotta love those damn nice mix bags!
nice gettin on the fish Lee!
heh yep. funny story bout mistaken fish id..
was on the pier one day, castnetted some big 8" fat menhaden, filled the b ait buckets and let that be it..well i was bored so starting snagging them with a sabiki rig...some mexican fellas kept seeing me throw these "spots" back, and told me to start throwing them into their cooler if they didnt mind..
i tried to explain to them that these were not spots, and that they are HORRIBLE to eat, but i dont think they could understand me, nor i them. the only thing i got out of it is that they were going to be making some kind of fish paste out of it and make fish tacos? i think.
god i musta given them 20-25 big fat menhaden...
i hope i never run into them fellas ever again, because they will surely kill me. i just hope they did not cook them inside! because that smell will NEVER get out of that place!!!!

Great report and pics Captain Lee. From shrimp stuffed specs to crab stuffed specs. I don't know which one would be better, but sure would be nice to have to make that decision. Offshore, nearshore, or inshore, it does not matter, no critter is safe when Capt. Lee is after em. Congratulations to you and the crew. Slip.
Capt. Lee is a walking fish encyclopedia. Guys and Gals if you want to learn from one of the best get Lee to take you fishing. I had a great time Friday and no we didn't fill the cooler but I learned a lot. He always has a trick or two up his shelve that is good for a fish or two. Thanks again Lee for a great time on the water.
Yes life is good in SE North Carolina. Thanks Capt. Lee for a cool day on the inside and for the putting me on the slam. Mike keeps calling it the Jr. Slam since they were not keepers but he just jealous of my fine fishing skills!
BTW - HOW ABOUT THEM YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!!
another couple weeks and i hope to be putting up some speckled reports from the greenwater.
and from one mirrolure junkie to another.....i am a fan of that series III "golden retriever" as well, Lee. you need to get some of the 2000's in that pattern....the heat! i have found myself over the past week cleaning, shining, replacing hardware and hooks on all my babys. and i found a large supply of my favorite discontinued TT pattern so i can retire the original battle scarred ol' girl......
