I just love fall fishing down here in MHC, don’t you. With all the wahoo running there is just nothing you can’t love. With all the wahoo running around I was wondering what are your favorite wahoo baits and lures. And how do you rig them. Do rig them with stainless steel wire or piano wire. Also do just do a standard haywire twist or do you stiff rig the hook. Also I recently bought a Squidnation Matanza and was wondering what size ballyhoo and hook run I use in it.
Great first post. Welcome to the board. I look forward to the education to follow ... as I do every fall these questions are asked ... someone always comes up with something new adn exciting.

Supporting my Tackle habit
I started running a matanza last year - Mostly Large or Large Mediums and almost strictly on the planer - I've been very pleased.
I run piano wire - most of the time #9. There is a real difference to the bright wire instead of the coffee colored stainless. Bright stainless would work as well, and may be a bit tougher, but most of the time, I replace the wire after a fish or 2, so not a big deal.
Other good rigs for me have been black/purple Billy baits, black/purple islander and JRs.
On top, i generally run my normal spread - lots of blue/white, blue/crystal, blue/silver - except it is all on wire.
Most of all the NC fleets use piano wire, long leaders..how ever long your comfortable when wiring the fish, dark color sea witches. Purple/black,red,black,chart/purple,orange/black.
Med. hoos
Mantanzas are good..
there are several high speed and jet head lures that will catch wahoos. But ide personally rather drag bait.
