I'm evaluating a change of location and trying to think of a good compromise between my passions and the wifey's passions. decided that I should look in the vicinity of MHC and coastal NC. are there any decent horse properties within a 30 min drive of the MHC charter fleet? looking for something around 10-20 useable acres. how are the general prices or property and property taxes? down here in florida you can look at pay around 10-15K per acre. Marty, I know you're a country boy and I'm sure I'm not the only one on here that has horses
Jimmie, I'm not very sure if you are going to be able to fish any property in the 10 to 15K range for your horses. One of the big problems was when the real estate boom his Carteret county, most of the larger tracts of land were bought up and subdivided. There might be some property available somewhere in the county, but I really am afraid that the price will be up there. Of course there are plenty of people hurting right now when it comes to real estate. There might be a deal somewhere. I have small 5 acre tract that my daughter has horses on. God I hope you don't have any more that 3 or 4. My daughter horses are about to break me.
marty, I appreciate the offer and if I find myself in your area, you'll be the first to know. I dont know when this would be happening, I'm just evaluating options right now. joe, we've got three right now, with one of our mares in foal. in february it will be 4. I mentioned cataret county since that's where MHC is. i looked at the area surrounding jacksonville as well, just not much to find.
we did this exercise 3 years ago when we bought some condos in Atlantic Beach. Wife and I thought it might be nice to have a place we could come down and bring the horses. If I remember correctly we found a couple 10-15 acre lots/farms off of 24 (I think that is the road?) anyway turn at the walmart. Let me know if you need a realtor and I can send you the contact info to our realtor down there.
A quick search turns up several acreage plots that are 5+ acres in your price range. Contact a buyers agent in the area. I think something will turn up for you.
