Sometimes things don't go as planned, but at least we always have a good time.We (my dad, bking, and myself) left home friday afternoon, arrived in MHC at 11 pm, got the gear ready, went to sleep at 2 am, got up a little late and left the dock at 6. Got to the rock area around 8 am.
10 seconds before lines in, the wheel feels a little funny, and I got a baaaaaad feeling. Sure enough, we lose our steering first thing in the morning. OK, not a big deal, but no way I'm turning around, let's fish.
Fished the deep most of the day hoping for a big blue, or any blue for that matter, but she didn't come. Picked up three mahi in 80-90 fathoms on our way back, one being a nicer fish.
Took me almost three hours to get back steering with the sticks, it must have looked like I was running the boat drunk, but it could have been worse.
We are on our way home now, nothing like 20 hours of driving for 10 hours of fishing.![]()
Best of luck to everyone fishing the Big Rock this week, it should be a good one.
Oh ya, don't ask why I ended up in the pit solo in the first pic.It was cool though, I don't get to crank in fish that often.
