I played hooky from church on Sunday and went offshore with lifelong friends and fishing partners. Despite the forecast being off by a few knots we scratched out a fair mahi catch and also watched a King come in first thing to mess up our pretty spread but he met steel instead!!!!!!! Had one good size Mahi come in on the starboard rigger and despite me watching him come in and heading for the rod, he managed to get the rigger and flatline both in his mouth and met the steel with both hooks still in his mouth. Had one sail come in as well but was not interested in our stuff!!!! Also saw a big fish behind the spread but was not interested apparently, not sure what it was. We pulled lines out around the rise and decided to go back between the 90' and 14 buoy but were met with fairly large seas and decided to take our 5 good size mahi and one King to the hill. Made 18 knots or so from the rise until inside the knuckle with the captain(killintime) doing a good job on everything except keeping us dry. He took the gull wings off for the summer(they are back on now). The 2360 Sailfish is a incredible riding boat despite being wet. Chalk one up to the weather man on Sunday, he screwed up Not fished much this spring and early summer so it was sure nice to get out and put some meat in the box.
