    Merry Marlin Oct. 17-18 Report

It has been over a year that I have tried to get Jeff "Ponce" and Daniel on the MM for a fun day of bottom fishing. Better late than never, we finally got a chance on Sunday...
After fishing with my boys at sea since they were 2 now any chance I have seeing a kid get excited about fish makes my Day...
Broke the inlet and found some albies fooling around, it was time to put Daniel on some fun!
I had heard from Jacky that he could hold his own and his first cast produced...

We pushed offshore with Daniel asking when do know you're offshore??? Good question and I answered maybe when you don't see land...
After not seeing land for a little while we threw the anchor overboard and the boy quick to cut bait and bring up a serie of fish...

He wasn't too convinced in holding this one in his hands...

He has quite a touch for these and can compete with Patrick...

He loves venting and releasing these

The Gags in the area were all small and we had to go deeper.
How far is deeper asked the kid... A little further I answered!

That area again had plenty of Snappas all over 20", I guess when proteced they can do a quick come back. Now let's hope NMFS believes an opener could be for soon!

Jeff with another fish that happaily return to see his family

Daniel then worked on some other red fish

Time to work on some brown fish with a little assistance

While Patrick was looking for his gag he came across quite a beauty. Yes, the ARS is back in full force and hopefully next year this one will ride home!

One last pic & it was time to head home, we did a bit of Albie catching close to shore and it was great to see a young fisherman with so much passion. Jeff you will have quite a helper in the very near future!

Sunday evening we were very lucky to share a meal with the Wilmington Boys starting ther Fall retreat in Harkers...
Some very fine orange fish on the grill.
Patrick was happy to talk about his nice snapper until we saw the picture of the one caught by "Squid" on the "slip Slidin"...
Geez, once again Nick P's boat teaches the MM a lesson! You guys Rock...

Monday we headed out to see if the kings were biting. Slip Slidin and Seabiscuit got some nice ones while all we could bring to the boat were fat Spanish and sharks.

Time was running out for us as we had to go home and we gave the bottom a little shot. Jacky who fished the day before on another boat wanted to try his new rod... An AJ would put it to the test. His came up a little quicker on the Saltiga than with a Spheros but then I can't even try him on arm wrestling...

Did some beelinning and triggering and the boys had a little more fun.

This boy's knee is getting back in shape as he can jump back on the box for some therapy...

This fish caught on the bottom could be considered a Fat Abert!

Joined the Wilmington pros and headed back home for a battle with the downeast Mosquitoes as we cleaned the boat!
It was great spending a little time with the Boyz in Harkers and I know you guys are having a Great Buddy Retreat this week...

As always great report Jacques. Daniel and I had a fantastic time spending the day with you and Patrick on the Merry Marlin. Daniel is ready to run away and spend all his time with Jacky and Patrick.

Thanks again for a fantastic day!

My boys felt exactly the same way about them. They are so good with the little ones. It has been a while since my boys have seen the MM crew and to this day they ask "When can we go play tennis with Jacky and Patrick again?" ... in their back yard, I might add
