    Merry Marlin Memorial W.E. Report

This past week we had two birthdays at home. The daughter did her thing with friends and Mom, Patrick wanted to get on the mahi's and invited two extra friends Forest & Blaine.
Even though I hurt my back and couldn't touch my toes all week I headed downeast knowing I wouldn't fish Saturday.
Always a strange feeling just sending the boys offshore and staying at the dock but I better start getting used to it!!!
Put them in the water earlier than I usually get up and went back to bed happy not to attack that SE wind...

Played couch potato and took my double doses of anti-inflamatories. In the afternoon I did make it on a friend's boat who had to help out some folks who had boat problems.
Did some site seeing, plenty of people watching to be done this busy weekend!

Boys had a good time although the twins got sick after reeling in the first mahi's. Birthday boy loves trolling!

The bite was early then shut off and they pushed a little offshore. Little blackfins were around the Rock and they brought some fresh sashimi.

They caught a few bottom critters on the way home and ended with 12 gaffers, 3 slingers, 6 blackfins and Austin had to try some reef donkey kibobs!!!

Yesterday I nummed out my back with medecine and we did a short run to see if the summer critters had arrived.
I needed to smell some real water and even caught the first fish!

Fish 2 and 3 were donkeys, I handed over the rod, took a seat and watched...

Birthday boy was Happy and is looking forward to school letting out!

We drifted off the main rock and when the triggers showed up anchored. In short notice the limit was reached...

During the action a cobia showed up. I was barely hooked got off as Jacky tried gaffing green on the first chance got off the gaff and hook as Austin did a great reflex shot getting him with the gaff!!! Pretty work Austin! I did not check what that looks like on video......

Heading back found some nice patches of weed... No sign of life a part small bailers that we left alone.

Headed to the Bight for a good swim, meet with friends and people watch. My favorite boat of the day was our neighbor's skiff as they came back from playing with the spanish & blues.

Kids are in School today..... Yes, Chatham County stay out of school on "snow" days when I truly believe they shouldn't. I hope they at least took a few minutes in class today to Honor our Troops past and present for all they have done and do for us.

Nice report as usual. I thought I saw a crew member hanging over the port side while you worked that temp and color change on Saturday. We got on that break a bit later than you, we were in the almond colored bridge boat "Miss Beulah".

We didn't work offshore towards the rock very far, we turned and headed southwest and jigged some A.J.'s and a lone cobia.

Awesome job on the triggers. !!

Who the hell needs painkillers? Pulling on the reef donkeys will set bones and muscles straight in a hurry!

Good looking catch for captain Jacky on Saturday and sweet revenge for Austin on the gaff Sunday!

    A memorable Memorial weekend downeast!

What is this sit at the dock stuff Jacques? Just admit it you did not want the boys to show you up. Once again the Mm crew wins out with more great catches.
