This weekend the pressure was on me as my parents arrived and although they were still kind of Jet lagged, my Dad insisted on going fishing! Jacky and Patrick had arranged going offshore with Nauti Natured so I was up for a very special of just me and my parents. Being in there 80's we took a slow start and put lines in around the 14. The bite was on and we started collecting some mahi's.
They don't often make it to sea and my dad di a good job of reeling these fish in stting in his favorite chair..
He really wanted to catch a nice grouper so we decided to trawl offshore but without my young assistants I didn't do a good job of my drifts and did not get a single bite on the bottom, so I put him on a couple Almaco's. Good thing they were small as it was still an effort but he handled them just fine!
Enjoyed fishing next to Chris on that beautiful and fast Contender.... Gosh did you fly by us on the way home!
Frustated that I couldn't get my parents on something good we trawled back for a few more mahi's.
Had to gutt a dozen gaffers and a couple slingers as my helpers had a better ride!
Being digested Someone's hook / balyhoo and 10 feet of piano wire among other goodies!
Some chewing gum for this one!
Sunday after church and a good lunch we decide to give it an afternoon shot as the weather was great.
I had some catching up to do after saturday's bad bottom trial...
My parents were going to experience what their grand kids love to do... Make it Happen!
They assisted their Grandparents in catching a variety of pretty fish
NC fishing without an AJ ain't no NC fishin'...
A little better with a surprise visitor
Finally a keeper for grandpa of what we were looking for
My dad's favorite of the day was probably a nice ARS
As we'd head back to the start of the drift the boys would flap a pair pogies to try and bring up a king that we'd seen jumping but this is what took the bait.
As we finished the limit of Gags it was time to go home
This time the gutters were here...
They did have a smooth ride home to get the job done!
This weekend was a lot more about a Very Special moment with my parents than about fishing. We don't get to see them often and I can't thank them enough for all what they have taught us in life and what special values they the transmitted us. I wish I'll be able to still do what you do what you do 40 years from now!!!
Your legs may not we very seaworthy anymore but you sure have a beautiful family with 6 kids , 17 grand kids and 12 great grand kids....
Looking forward to many more of your visits to Cape Lookout
