    Merry Marlin first bluefin tuna

On Saturday we left around 5:00 lines in at 5:45am. We were trolling around the trawler until we went on a wild goose hunt offshore. We hooked up at 8:00 around the shad boat. It hit a white jag on the planer. The fish put up no fight untill the leader came out of the water. we had him at the boat for 20 min. at boatside before gaffing him in the lip. We measured him in the water he was 70 inches , on the deck he could have measured 73 but we did not feel he would live if we brought him in and he wasnt 73. After swiming him for a while he swam off just fine.

On sunday at 6:30 we hooked our second short of the year. This fish put up more of a fight than the first one but measured about 65 inches.

We must give some of the credit to what we learned at Marty's fishing school. Marty, The gloves worked like a charm, Thank you.

Congrats on your fish I was beside you at the Shad Boat. I see you caught it on a JAG I may have caught one before on a JAG also . That swimming hook is the cats meow I have used one about 3 years now. I know how you feel on the shorties we caught 2 in a row. Maybe Wed will be the day. Again congratulations on your fish!
