    Merry Marlin Boat ride report

After only washing baits in the last month in search of that Mind Boggling Bluefin, the MM crew went off for another boat ride on Saturday. Only this time the water was slickcam making it a very pleasant day!
Usual pretty sunrise on Cape Point...

After not having a bite for a couple hours around the 14 bouy and not hearing of a fish being caught we pushed offshore to see if we'd find those wahoos that were around this week.We had enough of feeding baits to the albies...

Plenty of bait around and 71F water just off of the BR. Put lines in but the tide was RIPPING and we figured it was gonna be a hard one! Marked some interesting stuff in 400Ft of water and sent some jigs down. By the time they'd get down we were like 300 yards away!!!!
We were hoping for some tiles but all we got we got were some red whatevers...

Being impossible to fish correctely we went back up the slope. Still lots of current and still no tiles so after this sampling we put back in troll. It was nice seeing Ponce out there as they got a good workout on the jig...

Marc's favorite was this one that was still alive coming out of a sandtile 300Ft deep...

Well we ended up with no blackfin nor wahoo bite but a fabulous ride in. 45F water at the Knuckle and we rode the middle of the shoals all the way in to see if there were signs of stripers...
NOTHING ! not even a gannet or flock of cormorants. Plenty of dolphin in 44F and 10Ft ofwater, they must be finding something to keep warm!!!
41 degrees water at the deserted Lighthouse had us put our jackets back on after half a day in T shirts mid january offshore....

Thanks to the NMFS regulations no fish cleaning and icing down. I've turned the Hoshizaki machine off, and the white coolers stayed empty. Will this become the norm for the MM crew??? Patrick said he's not fishing if he can't kill fish and he went duck hunting. I kind of like coming home with a clean boat!!!!
Gotta love a good Boat Ride...

Scorpion fish Jacques, those red ones. Poisonous spines, but no better bouillabaisse stock. Try them next time.

How deep did the gags come from?

Glad to hear the Parker and the MM crew had a pretty ride in mid January.

Jacques another great pictoral report. It was nice seeing you out on the rock. I think we may only get a couple of days that nice each year.
