My parents have arrived for their yearly visit. Dad is 86 and always wants to fish BAD! After Jacky's Graduation Friday we pointed the pickups East!
Jacky got invited by Nauti Nature Chris to fish Saturday and the rest of us got up long after sunrise for some bottom fishing close to shore. Before taking my parents offshore for a whole day we've got to make it out by small steps.....
Not quite Patrick the ''Predator's" style of fishing but I'm thrilled to still be able to share a passion with my parents!
We stopped at a couple places that ony produced a few BSB's and beeliners, the gags were all shorts but good to see plenty of them for next year!
Third spot had some nice triggers and we put Grandpa and Grandma to work! The bite wasn't hot but we managed half a limit... Firing up the small fish got some curious Gags under the boat and everyone got to keep one. Marc did a good job assisting Grandma.
My dad doesn't have sea legs anymore but did just fine out of the chair....
Once again as we were about to leave and a cobe made the mistake of thinking he could handle the light line we put out for bailers... he ended up in the boat after a longer than usual fight...
Marcs favorite fish of the day was this baby BSB instead of some of the bigger ones he got.
As we headed back we came across a manta ray. Patrick hooked and released 2 short cobias out of 3 that were swimming with it. Quite an experience. You've gotta love the ocean here.
My site of the day was finding Gary pulling baits in his skiff! Absolutely awesome seeing someone that builds Big Rigs playing young man and the sea... Yes, you will catch your sail soon.... Best Outriggers on the East Coast! Burned 5 gallons on a full day.... Once again you're my Hero!
Anyway my parents may be slowing down but they still want to go out and play with the grandkids! We hope to make it offshore by the end of the week. My dad keeps on asking, can't we go and catch Marlin like in Sénégal? I hope to still be able to fish with him when he turns 100.....
We ended the day grillin fish and telling old fishing stories!
Life is Good!
