Merry Marlin 04-18 report
Saturday we headed with a reduce team (Patrick & Austin) out towards the East crossing the Cape slough with a beautiful sunrise...
We've been wanting to find some new bottom spots to go on the shelf further north and thought we'd give it a try... Did a few stops on our way only to find some small fish.
Water turned beautiful in the 40 Fathoms and put the spread out sure we'd find a gaffer or something with a yellow belly. Well 3 hours later, 40 miles from the Cape we point the boat back into that SW Swell and headed back. Marked a few potential spots for a calm day in the deep and had to make the day with a couple coolers of small fish...
Wish we had headed south!!!
Learned one thing though... Fishing with only one of your teenagers...What a pleasure!!!
"Pelagic Magic" was pulling on bottom fish somewhere else...
Patrick is now getting operational for taking us out, not quite confident to cross the shoals but now has a good eye for putting the boat back on the trailer.
Austin still loves to pull on on AJ's...
A little slide show for the day

Those coolers looked pretty "productive" to me.

If Ignorance is bliss, Why aren't more people happy?
Thanks for sharing. Looks like a pretty good day - even if you didn't find the yellowbellies...

Wonderful slide show and fishing report Jacques. Fat beeliners and sea bass will work every time! Good to see a few gags and snappas showing up in your bottoms.
Looked a bit sloppy out there?
Keep the good stuff coming Merry Marlin crew.

Jaques, great report and slidshow. Thanks for the phone call and really wish I could have made it. Much reather been with you guys than the 600 mile wirle-wind trip I made. The boys are growing up to fast, won't be long before all you do is fish while they do the driving...nappy time comming and going...
