Enjoyed Memorial Day with a couple of buddies with plans of putting some Dolphin in the boat. Pushed out about 30 miles put the first line in the water at 0700, 72 degrees, 15 fathoms. During the day we trolled out to about 40 miles 78 degrees, and 25 fathoms. Not the knock down drag out we’ve been hearing about, but we picked away at them steadily all day. Didn’t find any formed up weed lines, but worked some weed patches throughout the day. Ended the day with a baker’s dozen with 6-8 more knockdowns or pulled hooks close to the boat. They hit Pink / Crystal (with and without Mylar), Blue / Crystal (with and without Mylar), Chartreuse / Crystal (with and without Mylar) witches. We also picked up a couple on the long rod with ether a Purple / Crystal with a on a 3 oz head with a large ballyhoo or a Blue / White Islander with a large ballyhoo. All were nice fish between 10 – 20 pounds.
I did manage to pull a real rookie mistake during a little flurry I laid the gaff on the deck. Yup you guessed it I was rigging something backed-up and gaffed my foot. Pretty small cut, but I bled like a stuck pig for a few minutes. I wear Keens fishing and will still wear them, but this is a good example on wearing closed shoes it went right into one of the small gaps on the side of my Keen. Also, a good reminder no matter how hectic it gets take time to do things right. There are lots of ways to get hurt out on the water, there is no need to make it worse by doing dumb things.
I also include a nice bloody picture and by the end of the day my very nice Mark Ray original looked like it had been through war.

With all that blood on the fish, how did you keep that shirt so clean...
