Make sure you have see tow!

I debated on sharing this for awhile because I am a little embarassed but make DAMN sure you have sea tow or tow boat and it is renewed! My self and three buddies fished out of Hateras yesterday and had a good day turn bad real fast. We started off putting on 40lb tuna in the box and had two bites on the planer that did not come tight. Well things slowed in the middle of the day and we trolled to Diamond Shoals tower and jigged for some amberjacks hoping the tuna bite would turn back on in the pm. Well we are having a great time wrestling jacks and the motor turned off. Still not sure what happened but it would not stay running. So we put the call in. 6 hours later we were back at the dock. I could not have asked for better people to be with, we did all we could do and they were true sports understanding that shit happens with boats and motors. Well the damage was 918 bucks but I had renewed by seatow membership the day before. Six years with no claims and it finally saved my ass. Let this be a reminder to all get it and keep it current. Like they say it is not a matter of if but when something happens.

Been with then since 2000 and had to use them a couple or 3 times, Can't speak for all the Sea Tow but the Wrightsville Beach and Morehead crowd are some of the nicest bunch of guys you will ever need and I think the world of all of them. What I will recommend is that you get the "Skipper club" of Gold membership as it will give you towing on anyone's boat as well as covering you with other boats that you may own...3 in my case.
Now with that being said...READ THE FINE PRINT. There are things that you should know about or before being towed. Like its a free tow with a "soft" growing, water all around the boat, but not if your 10' up on the bar of marsh. Things like this you need to know. Also I recommend that you go and meet your group guys and introduce your self, never hurts.
This will be the best insurance you will ever buy...hope you never need it!

I have been a member of Sea Tow for 10 years and only used them once but it was worth it.We left Oriental N.C. to go out beaufort inlet in MHC and head offshore to go bottomfishing.Well about 30 miles out the inlet it happend the motor blew, locked up tight no warning at all .Called SEATOW and they got to us in about 2 hours, started the tow in ,seas were calm and tow speed averaged18 to 22 kts we were on a 23 cabin parker .When we got to the inlet the Sea Tow capt.ask where we wanted to go,we said the nearist boat ramp,we would call and get someone to bring the truck to MHC.The SEA TOW capt.said,'''' where did you put your boat in we said Oriental which is another 30 miles,he said no problem. We got to oriental he figured the cost of the tow $1300.00 WE DID NOT HAVE TO PAY A DIME because I was a member.SEATOW OR TOWBOAT either one is a good thing to have, but like Capt.Lee said read the fine print that word SALVAGE is a fine line. And if possible get to know the towing capt.s and staff in your area.

I've been a member of boatus towing for 3 years now. We got towed in last year from the hambone, the damage came to 1078.00. Paid for about 10 years of insurance in one tow. It was nice to just sign a paper & walk away w/ out having to hand over a credit card number.

We have probally the two best towing guys there are one the east coast & they are located at the two ports I fish out of, IRI & OC.
