Mahi Mayhem!
Well just to reinforce what we saw on Monday it was nothing short of AMAZING
I mean what's not to LOVE about golden colored undulating sargassum stretching for as far as the eye can see, some soda cans, cooler lids, mahi, a candy wrapper mahi, flying fish, mahi, Jimmy Hoffas body, mahi, a small car, Mahi ..........And...oh yea and it also had hundreds and hundreds of mahi.
Running from west to east and we found it good in 50 fathoms.... just beautiful we managed to stay ahead of the bigger fleet and just kept steaming east.
With two of us on board at times we were fishing with 1 or 2 lines only with an almost constant time of fish on
these fish were crazy!!!10-14 dolphins crashing flyers all over and fish just going crazy in the baits hitting ones that had no bally on it or just a head chewing on the teasers, shit teasers were just pulled in you just didn't need them.......
about 10.30 we pulled off the line, after boating a double of gaffers we needed to clean up and to grab some water and get our act together for another pass .....I'd just got started making my sandwich nice sourdough roll, boars head bologna dukes mayo and I hear HOOKED UP.........hookedUP Blue marlin on the flat line!!!!!!! NOT THE FLAT LINE!!! thats my Jigging rod!!!!!!!...... ....what happened for the next little bit was pretty amazing. at first we thought we lost her but she was just faking us out..out of the water she comes right behind the boat jumps and bang! a Real short burst 10 seconds of blister..... then slow ......then nothing............what happen...break the line..........pulled the hooks...........then she left for BERMUDA at unbelievable speed..... to make a long story short the small jigging reel and light rod were no match for this beast. and thank goodness she threw the hooks or I'd have had to re-spooled my jigging rod.....we counted the turns left on the spool and there was only about 20-30 wraps left on the spool.....it was literally the last second be for going to the knot and snapping the line.....We ended up in 1500 feet or so and had had enough.......by noontime.....we were high speed trolling towards the inlet enjoying some icy cold beers.....no love on the high speed troll
If only she'd have hit the short rigger instead you know what the short rigger was right ????
yea a 50w.......se la vi
Good to talk/see lots of familiar faces and voices out there..... I know all the guys out fishing that line did a nice job working the area and catching there fish we never had one problem where someone was on top of some one else ...yea it was close but being in that fleet wasn't' that bad........It was a Pleasure fishing with all of you...

Fantastic Zack. We heard you guys once on the radio and tried to call and say hey, but we were just too far away. I beat the sandwitch hit the deck when the blue came visiting.
Wow how very exciting. Congrats!
