OX 66's
Never owned the OX66's but fished with several buds who did. They absolutely loved them!! But in their words, they were fuel hogs. Most run out around a mile to the gallon or less but they kept on running and running. If budget is a big thing to you, consider buying new 140 or 150 four strokes.and repower an older boat. And those regulaters are tough boats, but consider an older Mako or a Seacraft, still see them everywhere, that says alot for their construction. You want get the speed as with the 200's and 250's. But how often do you get to put it in the hole anyway. I like loading the fish box at the end of the day knowing I only burned 60-80 gallons of fuel while my friends burn twice that or more. I make it in a little later but thats not a big deal either. Well, good luck! Ever come to North Myrtle Beach, look me up. We'll go fishing.

Thanks
Thanks for the info guys, I had an ox66 on my old boat and it was thirsty but i figured w/ the Reg's weight and all, the boat couldnt get much more than 1 mpg w/ those motors.
Burning 125-130 gallons wont break the bank but I know I would enjoy it alot more if I wasnt shelling out that much to go offshore.
Plus I would fish alot more, and not have to worry about having a crew of 4 to split fuel.
I might consider something older w/ new power which would fall in my budget.
Back to looking.

The OX66's are great running engines. Very reliable engines.
However, they do burn a little more fuel and they drink the oil. They also smoke like a forest fire.
Personally, I would sacrifice fuel mileage for reliability.

Thanks
Hey Backlash, thanks for the links.
I am thinking about going to look at the second one next weekend.
Talked with the owner and it sounds like what I am looking for.
O-Sea-D, I think in my budget those would be the best motors I could buy without having to sacrifce the hull quality.
Even if they are a little thirsty, at least they will be reliable.
I figure they would burn an extra 20 gallons or so.
Has anyone seen anything else that may work?

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
I was joking w/ a friend I should have given him the cash and let him pick out the damn thing.
I am usually an impulse buyer so I am not used to researching and taking my time.
I think I am just more confused as to what I want.
If anyone else know's of anything listed let me know.

i would get the better motors with a cheaper hull, something mid-tear i re powered my rig and it was like night and day, going from EFI's to DFI's
