I just noticed this site doesn't have a lure-builders forum. This is a trolling bird I copied from a 9 inch Boone.I've tested it,and it works as good or better than the original.
I am NOT posting this as an add,I will not sell them, just wondering what kind of things other members here have built.Show me.

What I would really love to hear about is the mold construction process for offshore lures. I have screwed around popping stuff out of pill bottles and grinding the backs for skirt attachment, but I would love to know how to do the cool stuff like Deep and the other pros are doing.
The bird is made of wood.I used fir, because it sands easily. The wings are maple, for strength.I copied the Boone,by turning on the lathe.I turned a single round shape, then cut it in half on the table saw to get two out of it.The tail was then cut on the bandsaw, and sanded in.It's a pain, due to the upswept tail.I'm going to try a few with a flat tail.If they work,I can turn these babies out a dozen at a clip.
The first pic shows the bird after being sawn in half, but before cutting and sanding the tail.(the hard part). The other pix are for comparison.Thanx for the kind words.
