Little bit of a rant

Box hope you don't mind if I put this here. I went in the tackle shop today to get some treble hooks and light wire to rig up my live bait rigs you guys helped me out with. Well the lady that was working there starts "helping" me find what I want. This is fine as I really don't go into this store that often and they are always changing it around. She asks what I am fishing for and I tell her King Mackerel. The woman looks at me and says let me show you these real hot baits for kings. Everyone has been coming in raving about them so it peaked my curiosity a little bit. She walks me over to the section they have for black bart lures and picks up one of his san sal candy baits and says here this is it. I looked at her and said I have one of those that I use for wahoo sometimes. She looked at me and said well wait that one isn't it but it is this color. Then she picks up the one next to it which happened to be in the same color and says this is it see it even says pink mackerel on the label. I just shook my head and walked away. I was dressed in my work attire which consists of a button up shirt I guess that made her think I was a complete idiot. I had already spent about $200 in the store and she was trying to get me to buy a $50 Black bart lure because it was a "great mackerel bait because the tag said pink mackerel on it" I mean WTF.

Thats too funny, a lot of people would have fallen for that.
I have a friend that once went to a very reputable Tackle shop here for a party boat tuna trip. they loaded him up with a Tiagra 50 with a chaos roller rod, the big old Braid belt with harness and seat , spreader bar , squid jigs, and multiple feather s and such I think he spent like 2500.00. The funny thing is he ended up using his old senator 4/0

It helps to be atleast a a little knowledgable when shopping.

this is an example of the difference between shit shops and tackle shops. I appreciate one of our local shops so much because its been 100% customer service since ive been going there with my pops when i was probably 5.

For a summer job i worked at a local tackle shop and the customers really appreciate it when you dont sell them abunch of crap they dont need just to make a dime.

Ive been in some sporting goods stores here that are bragging about a hot new bait thats out and one they cant pronounce the name properly and two its been out for well over a year.

This place has just changed hands a few months back. The last group would pretty much let you do as you pleased and wouldn't bother you too much unless you went seeking an answer which is my style of shopping let me go in get what I want and get out. I have gone in to this store twice since it changed hands and not had a very good experience with it either time. Crappy thing is they are the only large tackle store in the town i was in. I guess I will just have to start making special trips to the beach do to my tackle shopping.

Yeah I go into East Side about every time I am in Washington. I was in the place out on 264 like you are heading to Greenville when the lady did that.

sounds kinda like an experience i had...

we all know the yft bite offshore in the ne canyons has been just about non existant this year but we had a crazy good bft year...

this guy was saying yeah man.. this is the world bft fishing we have ever had on the east coast in like 25 yrs... i said what?!?

he said you heard me.. been talking with all myfriends around the area and it was horrible. i said you mean yft tuna.. he said no bft tuna..

i said i am so sorry sir but you must be mistaken...

he argued with me until someone else came in the store and finally agreed with me..

then he tried to tell me that the canyon runner 60ft richie howell did not move all year and they didnt have one trip..

i said man.. you must be sick in your head or sumtin!!
