    Liscense Renewal,

Guy's better submit your paper work way in advance with our new "streamlined" system in place. All I'm trying to do is get a renewal, glad I'm not applying first time. With all the new reveiwing processes it's taking alot longer than it used to. I've got some tonnage and endorsement's on my ticket, don't know if that is slowing it down or not. They are recomending sending the paper work in 3 to 4 month's early now. Look's to me 6 month's is more like it. Frank, SeaPower

Make sure you cross your t's and dot your i's. They are getting stricter but in Charleston they were very helpful. I renewed last year and had a bunch of help from one of the person's down there. Ask any questions you have, you can even do it online. It went very smoothly and painlessly because I had all my paperwork in order, did not want to have to make a second trip.

I hear you on that one ,,for the last few years i have been keeping track for each vessel using this form http://www.usmaritime.us/documents/CGsmallboatdoc.pdf and getting the owners signature after every year and or each delivery ,makes it some what easier to keep track especially if the owner sells the vessel and you have to chase down the info

My last renewal took forever. They guy gave me a bunch of crap about having a full year to do it in advance. It had never taken more than two weeks before.
I had heard that New York was still working fast... I asked if I could with draw my application and resubmit in New York... They said no. Finally after 16 weeks it showed and instead of having all the miami stuff on it... issue port... New York...

    Plan9, DeepC,

Got the ball rolling in Baltimore like usual, no snag's, all document's ,etc... The process is now getting bottlenecked in West Virginia. This is the new processing center (as told to me by the Coast Guard), our paper's will be coming out of there. Word from them is to get them your paperwork 3 to 4 month's before it is due. Guy's here at home who work on tug's were told by the "company" to get it in a year before it is due. Stand by, to stand by. Frank

I'm about four years from next renewal but gonna start in three

I'm glad this got posted by someone other than me... I posted at another site about a year ago when I renewed and got slammed by guys saying "BS"... Supposed "captains" ... I guess we know whos actually got licenses there now don't we...

    frank d,

I can't answer that one, but they already know who and what I am. Never had any problem's before. Done this re-newal thing several times over the year's,not had this problem before. If I was a new app. I would make sure I had EVERYTHING in order. Frank,SeaPower
