I'm gonna start by saying the line that is pissing me off is not Ande, I have always been and Ande man and you can bet your butt I am going back.
OK, I have been using this so called greater than white bread mono with unbelievable breaking strength line that is supposed to be the top of the line line (and it cost about twice as much as the rest ). I label all my reels when they are spooled up so I know how old the line is at any given moment. Now keep in mind I'm not running a charter boat so I don't fish every day. Generally we swordfish about 5 to 8 time a year when I bring out my wlrs 50 w/60# mono. Today I was re-rigging some tackle and my line was breaking as I tied on swivels

This line is 1 1/2 yr old and has been fished no more than 10 times and it is rotten, yea rotten as hell. Had I of been crimping instead of tieing my lines I would have never known it had gone bad.
Now my question. I know the line manufactures can tell how old the line line by the sequel#. But can they design it to rot in 2 years? Even though my line has been on the reel for less than 1 1/2 I really don't know how old the line actually is. It could have been on the shelf for 3 years and on the reel for 1 1/2 and it's way pass it usable life. It seems like some of these "better lines" are designed to rot. Line is to dam expensive to have to be replaced after 10 days of fishing. For a charter boat thats new line every 1 1/2 weeks
I have got a 3000 yd spool that I bought about 1 1/2 years ago, it feels good and strong but will go to crap in 6 months ?
What's been your experiences ?
