    lil fishin 6/1

Biscoto and I slipped out for a liitle while today. Caught pogies(menhaden) in the waterway. Biscoto swum the net with 7-10 inch pogies and we were on our way. Stopped off at a 20 mile spot that we caught bait at on our last trip. Bottom was looking really good and on my first drop this decent gag came to join us.
Biscoto dropped soon after and had his rod bending soon after.

The box didn't take long to turn grey.

It was pretty much non stop action between the gags which we continued to release and the AJ's that were hovering around the boat. We decided to stay and fish that area for a while cause we landed a 32 inch cobia(which we released) and hoped that there would be a bigger one around. No such luck. Went and fished another 10 mile spot, for about an hour hoping for a cobia, but no luck there. Decided to call it a day. And a good day it was. Got to fish with my good friend Biscoto. No complaints. Life is good. All this fishin has made me tired. I think I will go to sleep now. Slip.

Brother Slip stayed up late writing this report. Thank you bud, thanks for the fishin' and the report and pics.

I will confess that after I limited in two drops I started messing with the jacks. What impressive fish they are! A pack of 30 pounders kept laying just under the boat. Light lined pogies drew violent surface strikes, as the jacks were competing for them. So did jigs. 10 lbs of drag would not even slow these rascals down. I landed a couple, but was schooled by a couple others. If ever one is interested in testing their tackle jacks fit the bill.

In addition to the gags and jacks, I fought a large shark to the boat and Slip landed a very large little tunny and broke off a strong and very fast fish hooked on the bottom and immediately after rising to the surface and running hard against heavy drag. I believe that was a big cobia, but we'll never know.

To answer Pino's question, yes we do. Sometimes I remember to take pictures and post like in the following recent thread:
Name that fish! Slip Slidin May 30 report
Check out that funky little fella! I think we are ready for you bro. Pick a decent weather window and come down again. This time I will guarantee you major pullage!

    Cheers,
    SeaBiscuit

All in all a fine, choppy afternoon in the water.

Also found a school of Turbo Pogeys - had about 3 dozen with 2 cast. When to the Jetty looking for Mr Cobia. Did not see a fish all day- not even a Blue. The only sea life was Lee GottoFly on the dock - he was talking trash about my favorite reel. Will try again next week................ICM

I assume you guys are fishing out of Beaufort or Bardens Inlet? That is a great haul of grouper. I know you will be eating good for a while.

    Awesome catch.
