I had volunteered at a special olympics and it was humbling experience. I never would have imagined how much fun it would have been. It's a great event for a great cause. The sportsmanship and respect that was earned and given that day left a lasting impression on me. Robja good on you for donating your time

Lighten up seasea. If it's any consolation, I thought it was funny. I laugh at jokes like that and ENJOY watching comedians do routines about s%#@ that others deem not PC. People have to learn what is meant to be harmful and what is just tongue-in-cheeck. Geeez.

I am not posting up here to berate your comment in any why. But I would like to share my own personal experience with these special people.
The last Wednesday of every August about 40 boats and their owners volunteer their time and boat to take two to 300 hundred mentally and physically handicapped people fishing. I have to admit the first time I did it I was very apprehensive and needed a little arm twisting.
Well I have to tell you it was a great time. The excitement, joy, and shear pleasure these kids [some older than me] get from catching the smallest fish is contagious.
All I can say is, if you ever get the opportunity to do something like this it is well worth your time. This year will be my 23rd year.

Where do you do this? Cape May?

Do you know if they do anything like that a little further North.

I would love to sign up for that.

I worked with them a little when I was a ski instructor, sweet kids and it's amazing how much joy they get from the smallest things.
