Leader Size?

What pound test mono do you typically use for your trolling leaders? I know stealth is key, but what is a reasonable pound test to have while maintaing stealth and be reasonably strong for "wiring" fish without being overkill?

What is best to use when...targeting smaller class fish like yft and small bft? larger bft? blue marlin fishing?

1) 50-80lb tuna?

2) 100-150lb tuna?

3) Blue marlin?

Depends on how your rods are set up.

Tuna:
Wind-ons, use 80lb leaders.
snap swivels, use 130 or 150lb leaders.

For blue marlin, you want at least 150lb leaders, regardless.

60 or 80 dink fishing if looking sails or whites. 100 for most everything else unless strictly marlin fishing then i would go 280 to 300 lb leader.

For whites and sails 25 feet of 80# wind on to a spro 60# BB snapswivel and 4 feet of 60# Moimoi Diamond.

For Blue Marlin 25 feet of 200# windon to a 200# BB snap swivel and 6 feet of 400# Moimoi Diamond.

For YFTs and general meet 100# mono

For larger BFTs 150# mono.

FYI, you are 1' over on your Blue marlin leader per IGFA. Try 21' windon and an 8' leader = 29' and legal.

That's funny, your tournment rules might not be IGFA.
