Kingfish Tourney......

After an awsome Bluefin seminar saturday with el boxo himself.I headed back south to get ready for the following days events. my dad and i were fishing in the Fall Brawl with good friend jamie and his father. from the reports that we had gotten from saturday we decided to head out to the south forty. we decided to leave @ 630 because we didn't have to catch bait we did that on friday. loaded up the boat and headed out the inlet and were greeted with 2-3 footers it seemed like they rollin in every half a second, not to bad so we pressed on. got to the spot and set out baits and the game is on. first bite was on the left long good solid bite and after a short fight we saw color deep and i got ready got it to the boat...crap its a bone head in the boat he comes for grouper cut bait... bout 45 min go by and a few pieces of fried chicken later bam fish number 2 on comes to the boat quick.. stickem..its a snake king...in the box he goes not gonna win a tourny but he'll eat...im setting the first bait and bam another king on this time he ran like a champ but when he got to the boat..another small fish 10 or so lbs. in the boat he goes... mind you were fishing the 23 and under and every fish counts.... decide to head in around 1145 cause its startin to blow just a little so jamie headed the boat towards the hill to try some inshore spots...all of those turned up nada.. but we had a good time anyways...

I think most of the fish were caught at the horseshoe. I heard that was where the winner came from

the winner came form the belky bear down off of myrtle beach in 63 degree water.the south forty where i was fishin, is real close to the horseshoe about 2.5 miles and it was slow pretty water and plenty of bait just nothin producing.that dont mean there not out there though i think that the NE wind had 'um shut off.

I had gotten that info from a guy at holden beach marina. we fished the 390/390 saw nothing. finished the day at the jungle and saw one fish caught and we only had a couple of schoolie kings late in the day.

Thanks for sharing, glad you all had a good time. Had a few buddies fishing that tourny and told me they got the crap beat out of them running from the tower to southport. All they eneded up with was snake kings as well.

yes it came from the Belkie Bear 63 degree water on A DEAD CIGAR MINNOW. Are you kidding me, we spent all day Friday catching blues, I floated the net on mullet and we bought a box and NEVER OPENED IT. Once again as I mentioned in the Live Baiting thread, being lead to a slaughter MUST USE LIVE BAIT. It was absolutely georgious on the beach, but after about 5-10 miles she got snotty we ended up picking ours up at the Jungle and it was enough to get us to Biloxi for the Nationals, then we went to Hammer and Bill Perry and nothing but SHARKS. AHHHH, the frustrations of KMT 63 degree water on a dead cigar I am still in shock LOL LOL LOL. Congrats to the winners and all that weathered those LOVELY conditions offshore

How far is Belkie Bear from the Jungle? I have never heard of that place.

approx 15 miles SW of the Jungle only 13 miles off the beach in from of Garden City and approx 27 miles out of Little River Inlet. Here is the #s
