During the past week I have been trying to decide on whether or not to fish both Friday and Saturday or just Saturday. I had a graduation to go to Saturday in Va beach and its about an hour drive down to fish so I figured we would come down early and cobia fish till one and then head to the party. But then I got to thinking about red drum fishing at night on Friday, since I had the day off. All in all the wife and I decided to fish Friday evening through Saturday at 1pm, sleep in the boat overnight even though it has a small bimini and it is a dual console. Checked the weather and all looked good so we headed down at about 4 on Friday, stopped and got all the bait and ended up forgetting the chum which proved to be the downfall of us not catching any cobia. Friday night about 10:30 I put a 43 inch red in the boat and the wife said to not wake her unless it was over 50 inches, so I just looked at the beautiful specimen, pulled the circle hook out the corner of the mouth, revived it for about a minute and the sucker bit my thumb hard, I let go, he swirled and gave me a good splash. I ended up falling asleep about 1:30am and waking at 4:30am. It had gotten a little snotty so we hid behind one of the islands, grabbed two more hours of sleep, and then cobia fished till 1pm, caught two Atlantic sharp nose sharks, kept one for the grill, and one skate before calling it a day. Great trip with a little bit of meat in da box. All I have is sun and moon pictures from my phone, no red.
When the sun went down, it looked as if it was setting in the north west, and then when it came up it was almost directly North, am I getting this wrong or is that where it is right now? Never paid much attention to that, but I don't really see the sun come up that often either.
