    Judge MHC Sunday

Blaine and Spencer our captain and mate ran the boat up to Charleston where my son and I met them Saturday for some fishing. We left Charleston to some unsteady weather reports of a nasty NE arriving in the afternoon. As we started fishing off of Charleston in the morning the breeze picked up early and we decided to spend the day running north to better weather. It was a good choice the weather turned nasty and we had to run through a few nice storms and some 6-8ft seas, thanks Viking for a hell of a boat. We arrived Saturday night in Moorehead to the news that the Blue bite was on. I spoke to Marty who filled me in on the details and gave me some numbers. Blaine got the same info from some other captains. We headed out Sunday and fished the 100 without much luck all morning. got my son a nice dolphin and we listened and watched as boats were reporting 4 and 5 bites and we were seeing zero. Just one of those days. Then out of no where the left long went screaming from the bridge. With only me and a mate on board I stuck my son in the chair and helped clear the teasers and lines. When the fish came out of the water the captain called out a 4-500 pound fish. She put on a great show as Blaine worked on backing on the fish and my son worked his first blue. A great job by Blaine at the wheel and my son working hard and the fish was at the boat within 15 minutes. Spencer did a great job on the leader and my son had his first blue marlin. Not a bad first blue marlin, it was bigger than the fish that we placed in last years MA500. I told him to never forget it some people never get to see a fish that big their whole fishing lives. I will never forget the look on my sons face he has fished with us offshore since he was 10 but has never wanted to touch a blue marlin. Great job Sam and thanks guys (Blaine, Spencer) for making a memory for my son and I. And Marty thanks for taking the time on a saturday night to give some advise when I called out of the blue. no pun intended. Sorry about the pictures we were a little shorthanded.

Jim, CONGRATS to SAMMY!!!! That's awesome about his first Blue and loved the pics of his swim. So what billfish is left for him now so he can go for another dive???

Also, the new Judge 64 Viking is absolutely gorgeous and you, Capt. Blaine, and Spencer are definitely breaking her in and raising fish!
