MY FIRST MEETING WITH HIM WAS WEDS MORNING ...AT THE U.S.AIRWAYS BACKAGE CLAIM NEW BERN, NC.....A WARRIOR HE IS AND HAS BEEN FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW...NOW STATESIDE AND FRESH OFF SEVERAL PLANES FROM IRAQ TO THAILAND TO LAX TO MOREHEAD CITY...THIS ARMY CAPTAIN WITH HIS 18 MONTH OLD JR ANGLER IN HIS ARMS , STROLLED CASUALLY TOWARDS ME & CRACKED A SHEEPISH SMILE AND SAID VERY SIMPLY: HELLO BOX....

MY ARMS HAD NOT LOOKED LIKE HIS FOR 25 YEARS....GEEZ....I WOULD HAVE GIVEN 500 BUCKS FOR A TWENTY MINUTE WORKOUT AT GOLDS GYM JUST THEN!

HE REMINDED ME OF THE MANY COMBAT MOVIES I HAVE WATCHED IN MY TIME ....I WANTED TO CALL HIM MR COMBAT.....YOU KNOW THE TYPE....HE JUST LOOKS LIKE HE COULD WHOOP SOME ASS...."ARE YOU TALKING TO ME? WELL ARE YA" ?

NOW HE WAS HERE TO DO A RIGGING SEMINAR WITH ME.......HELL I DON'T REALLY FEEL WORTHY ENOUGH AFTER WHAT HE HAS BEEN THROUGH AND DONE FOR OUR COUNTRY....THE MAN FLEW FROM IRAQ TO THAILAND TO LAX...TO MOREHEQAD CITY TO TAKE A RIGGING SCHOOL............I AIN'T WORTHY I TELL YA!


BUT FOR 12 HRS YESTERDAY AND TODAY, ...WE HAVE GIVEN IT OUR ALL ...LEARNING...PRACTICING...TYING...AND JUST PLAIN OL RIGGING SOME HOOS UP!..........TOMORROW, WE PUT THE PLAN INTO ACTION......

THE WILD GOOSE IS COMBAT READY ....MY BOOTS ARE SPIT SHINED....REVILLE IS AT 0400 HRS SHARP ...THERE WILL BE NO ABOUT-FACE TOMORROW FOR I THINK THE WIND WILL SPARE US....

I LOOK FORWARD TO FISHING WITH JASON THE SOLDIER TOMORROW.....HE HAS DONE HIS DUTY FOR US....NOW IT IS UP TO ME TO RETURN THE FAVOR....

I hope Ole Glory waves good luck aboard the Wild Goose tomorrow. I salute you Jason. Thanks for all to have done so that I can remain FREE.

I was speaking with a friend tonight that just got back. I was on the USS Cole that horrible day and lost some good people.
Yet I can not hold a candle to the men and women that have spent time over there, they are true heroes. I thank each and everyone of them for their service and for protecting my wife and kids. I pray that they come home safe and are able to see their famalies.

I am very humbled to be in the presence of true HEROES.
