    inshore chunk bite

i was looking for opinons on chunking tuna inshore this early in the season. seemes the bluefin are being caught pretty consistant at all the lumps.most are saying they see pretty good concentrations of sand eels at masseys 19ump hotdog and so on.is trolling the most popular method or is the chunk not productive.with fuel prices i would think chunking would be more popular.

The fuel money you would save by not trolling would be spent on flats of butterfish. The bite has been very good on the troll so why try chunking?

    no chunk, please

chunking will ruin the trolling bite. it seems the last few years there have been less and less chunkers, which is helping the trolling fleet, as well as the fishery. stay away from the chunk and keep trolling, your success rate will be the same, if not better...

ps. it's actually a Maryland DNR law that chunkers can't chunk before the oc tuna tournament

    Jigging

We have done ok by jigging when we mark good numbers of fish. Haven't landed any overs yet but have had some good unders Plus it's more fun. We get alot of drive-bys cuz most fo the fleet thinks we are chunking.

It works just fine, but you will get a lot of slamming for it from the I hate chunkin crowd. Personally I hate listening to the cussing on the radio due to 50 boats trying to troll the same lump with WWWWB lines a lot worse.

Gonna jig the Bone Saturday. I wonder how many boats will think we are chunking and try to run us over or flip us off?

I have noticed that a lot of the boats that have been trying to "run" people over ... have been losing a lot of their way backs...
Anyone else see a the tie?
