    Insane Marlin footage

Ever wonder why so many Marlins come unbuttoned once they are hooked? Here is some insane footage from Tropic Star Lodge in Mexico that shows the INSANE speed and agility of these animals.

This also shows how important good boat handling is. This guy is sick!

Pretty amazing that a fish of that size can clear the water from a standstill with just a few beats of its tail...

They are always pissed!! They are unbelievable and addictive once you catch the first one. Bill fishing is about all we do anymore just because of the rush of that one solid Blue bite!! Nothing like seeing a Blue Greyhounding at you or out in front of the boat when your line is straight out the back of the boat. Gives me chills just thinking about the chaos in the cockpit!!

I caught my first marlin without professional help in late April, man I wish you could bottle the adrenaline that I experienced, 5 hour energy aint nothing after that.

I kind of have mixed feelings about this style of fishing....
I definetly wouldn't like being the angler where everything happens in so little time with folks yelling around orders!
The boat, angler or mate will get hurt some day...
I don't fish for marlin anymore but sure got my share in West africa sitting on a cooler in a small boat. The easiest and most pleasant was letting the fish do a couple long rushes boat stopped or even let him pull the boat. They'd then come as calm as a puppy and the angler had the satisfaction of seeing a clean kill or release....
But the cowboy rodeo stuff sure looks exciting!
