I THINK WE HAD A BITE...
Sometimes when trolling you get bites that are very hard to detect...almost takes an elevated position to see the strike. Reflexes can be of the utmost importance in these situations.
What do you think one should do when a Billfish hesitates to take a trolled offering like in the clip HERE?

Bait and switched a lot of blue ones for many, many years now. Your lead-in was funny, but the vid is typical of them. They aren't afraid of anything and usually do what is seen there, although not always with the jumping. My favorite way of marlin fishing was teasing and pleasing and I watched blue ones come in on many bar teaser spreads from my tuna tower and usually, just about the time you see her coming, she's on the pitch bait, if you get it out on time. Those things really tear ass, which is why we often already had a "pitch bait" out there in the form of a bar and a chasebait. That way when one comes, dinner is waiting for her. Automatic is good, except you have to spend time catching other stuff that jumps on. Actually, though, that's a good thing for the typical charter party that "wants to catch 'em all" and they still get to freak out when a marlin of any kind comes, but especially a hot blue lady.
The blues are amazing athletes...just seeing them after a good sized mahi is a mind bender, to say nothing of when one of them starts playing around with a flying fish. Wonderful!
Thanks for the vid...it made me want to reach for the throttles!

Nauti,
Very cool! Thanks.
Between blues, stripes, sails, a few blacks and lots of other species, I was blessed with having seen that sort of mega exciting stuff over and over again across many years. Add in pods of tuna, dorado and wahoo going insane on the teasers (bar teasers in my case, which they rarely grab if they aren't armed with a chasebait out back) and that is the main reason why when I started bait and switch fishing, I just never looked back. And then the fact that we never made errors by hooking the right fish on the wrong tackle - because we had total control of that - I never, ever saw a reason to go back to blind fishing. So, no little tunas on big gear, and more importantly, no big blue or black ones on Girl Scout gear.
Made sense then and still does today. And seeing each fish come, go bananas, sizing him up and pitching him his dinner that he jumps all over like a cheap suit for close, devastating hook sets? It just don't get any better, my man!
Oh yeah...there she is! Look at her freaking out! Pitch that *****! Gotcha, baby! Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's go backwards!!! Dance, Little Sister, dance!
Oh man. Look what you went and done! I gotta go lay down.

Thanks, Nauti. You got me all fired up!
