I agree with you there . Never really thought of it that way. I am sure you know we are never totally happy with our current boat. I sold my 17 cc Aquasport and bought the Wellcraft I have now and from some frugal saving have no boat pmt so you might be right on track. Undoubtly I will want to upgrade boats in a few years and then money could me a problem trying to upgrade all tackle. Thanks
If you decide on graphite, wait a few weeks for the new Shimano 2-speed TLD'S that Shimano is releasing the pricing is right and the upgrades and look are very nice.
If you go GOLD look at the new PENN VSX's or VSW's
The VSX"S are great, the 16'w have been out for one year and have been well recieved, I fished 4 this past season, striped marlin and tuna fishing and they are terrific, you get a smaller profile reel (MORE FUN AND COMFORTABLE TO FISH) with a smooth and large drag curve 2-speed reel. These reels are smaller and stronger and made for BRAID....
U can get 450+ yards of spectra and mono top shot on a 16 and the 30vsx and 50vsx's will be out in the next 2-6 weeks. They look and feel great with the new ratcheting lever drag and new 2-speed knob, sweet.
MADE IN THE USA..If that is a factor...
Good luck, match them with nice rods, no sense buying good reels and putting them on crappy rods..

jayjsmith, here is my 2 cents. If I remember right from your last post that started this...you allready have some lighter tackle. With that being said...get the gold and you will have it for your life time and they will go from boat to boat.
