So Rick what do you do when you get a day off and don't have a charter, go fishing? First whats a day off I ask. When I'm not on the boat fishing there are things to be done for the next trip, rigging, ice clean up. Capt Shane takes care of oil changes and some of the other stuff, and I put in my time as well. Boats break and need care. We've been running a lot this summer, no complaints here cause, God I love this job!
Well I have about an acre yard to mow, a 30'x50' vegetable garden, 6 rose gardens, 3 great danes, a wife and witches to tie. That keeps me a little busy on my "DAY OFF"! I have a 23 ft boat that I wash and work on. I wouldn't trade any of it for my life. Staying busy keeps me out of trouble, some times. The wife gets a little cranky, says I don't spend anytime with her. I've invited her fishing, I don't get it.
So what do the rest of the mates do on their "DAY OFF"?

Sometimes you just have to just put your list down and look at HER list. As mundane and senseless as her list may seem to you, it's still her list of what's important to her. You catch way more flies with honey than you do shiat.

You never know, she might just want dinner and a movie...probably a chick flick at that but what's 3 or 4 hours a week or month.

Me too! I stay too tired to get into trouble.
