I've had a Sanyo E1 Waterproof Video Camera VPC-E1 for about 6 months. So far I really like it. I think I've charged the batteries about 4 times...

The batteries are very small and carrying a spare is no issue - about the size of a matchbook.

I leave it in standby all the time - just flip the thing open and press record.

I am very new to video recording and got a bare bone cheap JVC to get started, not a bad camera but certainly not a high end camera.
My desire....Small good quality video camera point and shoot with absolute silence and be able to start fast. My current unit makes to much noise on startup and takes to long to be ready to record and in stand-by drains the battery almost as fast as just keeping it recording.I know it is hard to video without missing the action but there has to be a unit that will allow me to tape while still taking part in the action and not have to carry a spare car battery with me
    Who has a reccomendation.
Try this one for hands free... http://www.helmetcamera.com/
You can also put it on a pole and use it underwater...

I am no expert by any means either......

    here's my thoughts....

Keep the camera rolling like Chumtini said....

It's a pain in the you know what at first, but you will be happy in the long end....

    EDIT,EDIT,EDIT,EDIT,,,,,,,

In my short experience, 1 hour of raw footage done well is about 4 minutes of video.....

Take everything that has something good in it and put it in the timeline, then go through and ROUGH cut it all the way through, then cut it a little closer a second time, then add music when it is really close., move some clips around to make the music work.,,,,,REPEAT a few times and WHALLAh!!!

    YOUR FIRST VID...

You will learn a million things each time you use it....

I just got Premier Pro and am amazed at the options available,,,,,now the fun part will be to learn the new system...

Good luck, always post a question,,,, and have FUN with it....

Lee I think you may have solved my situation, that thing looks perfect for mounting on a gun or bow for action shots and I see one package is capable of being run through an HD camera for web posting and emailing action videos I think this helmet cam could be just the ticket.
Doe anyone have or use one of these? I would like to see some raw footage from a user.

Found this one in my research and talked to the fellow there http://www.vio-pov.com/products.php?...1892&ct=di#hw1 biggest problem with most of these is the 68 degree angle lense, to wide to get good shots on small stuff like ducks at 30 yards would be great for fishing shots and probably great for deer hunting. May have to buy one just to play with

I just got a Canon HV20 HD video camera for Christmas. After a lot of reseach on different HD models, I chose this one after reading this review and it won camcorder of the year.

So far just shot some family Christmas video and will tell you it takes excellent video but it is bringing my computer to it's knees on the editing. I have a dual core intel 2.0 Ghz with 2 GB of RAM. Hate to think it's already time to upgrade my computer but it may be if I want to shoot and edit in HD.

fish dad try breaking the super large file into smaller ones before editing. The editing software can look for breaks in the video stream. The computer you described should be fine editing a video. Also if you do get a freeze while editing...by using small clips you will not lose a large editing session. Once all are trimmed to your liking..then re-import the smaller clips and add the video enhancements, transitions, text overlays, audio tracks, etc...

    good lucls guys

2 more gigs of ram and a 500GB external hard drive (firewire 7200rpm) and you will be set.

I agree more ram will help. Especially on the video card. The dual core processor will do fine. The video card is a bottle neck in this puzzle. We see what we edit. Sliding a 1.5 gig video across the time line is pretty huge. The video card has to process quite a bit of data to move that file from a point say...3 seconds into the vid to a point 14 minutes into the vid. I would spend most money on a video card with as much ram as you can afford on the card. Most computers today have a 256 meg video card with no option to add more ram. This you will find with all .....compusa, dell, gateway, HP, Compaq, and others. The closet box out there are the gamer machines and even those are capped on the video card. A custom shop will have all the goodies, motherboard, video card with a gig or more ram, processor and standard ram. Think of it like building a 1/4 mile track car. All the best parts give the best time runs.

In the mean time slice and dice the clips. Ram is at an all time low if you have more slots available for additional pairs. Match exactly to what you have now....a faster ram will run slower if paired with a slower speed ram ..
