    FIN HUNTER SUNDAY REPORT

Was 0500, fog thick as pea soup when we got to the dock and turned loose. Had Byron from the board and his buddy Jim on board today. Byron has his own boat out of Oregon inlet and was eager to help in the pit. Six eyes on the bridge as lookouts. Couldn't see the bouys till you were 25 yds from them. The dredge was still working in the inlet which made things more interesting. Fog finally raised 20 miles off the beach just after day break. Throw em over in the same place we fished last weekend. Half hour 45lber slams the planer Jim makes short work of him and he gets an ice bath. The bait was there but the water was 67 deg, a little chilly. We ground it out for another hour, the bait was deep, no more nibbles. A little birdy told me the water was down the beach about 15 miles so off we went working the break from 30 ftm to 50 ftm. Couple hrs later after a few Black fins tried us and didn't find steel we finally find the 69 deg water. I turn off the break cross the best bait of the day and the planer goes off again. Pull back on the throttles a touch and the lt long comes down and starts screaming. A little pair of hoo's to keep the other one company. Kept working down the beach. At the 330 line time to turn back up the beach, in the middle of the turn the bridge pole starts leaving town. Byron on the rod working it like a pro. Looked like a nice fish in the water but when Jason stuck her and I saw the head come up to the covering boards I could see she was a 2 gaffer, what a pig, all of 65 lbs. On the way back up the beach a couple more black fins tried us but no love. Was a beautiful day on the water with an awesome crew. More pics to follow my card was full.
