It's not turtles...it's RATS! I found rat poop on the bricks behind the tomatoes and found where they were CLIMBING THE STALKS to eat my tomatoes and pooping all down the vine and on the leaves! Set 2 traps last night and one of them went off twice---once before I got home from MHC so I reset it, and a second time by this morning. Both shots, however, were whiffs. Set a live animal trap this morning so I should have the ******* by tomorrow and he will get a bullet in his head!

My parents have a heck of a time with turtles at their house since a creek backs up to their land. I've seen many a 'mater eaten by a "skillpot" (that's what we used to call them).

We should be picking corn in the morning. Tried a few ears the other evening and was almost ready.
Thanks beaglewoman! Y'all have got it going on as well! I don't know of many mater plants that can compete with the height of these dang things. My folks had some one year that hit the gutters at their house as well but those are the only ones I've seen get that high. Not sure why they've gone so crazy in that corner as last year we couldn't grow a single thing in that spot---everything flooded and died. Guess my plumbing system I installed late winter helped drastically. Be sure to take pictures of the corn! Ours should be ready shortly as well.

We got in the corn patch this morning, and just got finished getting it all in the freezer. 10 dozen ears and 7 quarts cream corn, plus all we cared to eat. Should be another picking in about a week, and have a little patch of late corn.

I've been away for a week fishing the Big Rock tournament and was greeted when I got home yesterday with more ripe veggies!

Maters have officially gone past the roof---they grew out the bird netting and are sticking out a foot over the gutter.

I'm sure my neighbors think I'm a redneck with my corn and maters sticking out over the top of my fence.

    Corn is looking great:

Lots of blonde beauties in the corn patch:

    Onions are getting some size:

Red chili peppers are slam full and some are starting to turn red:

Red bell peppers are also starting to turn:

Yellow bell peppers are also starting to turn:

And pimento peppers are looking good:

    Squash has started another round:

And finally the maters----they are starting to turn now and we have picked a few already:

Cherry tomatoes have started to ripen and I feel its about to bust loose with these things:

Here is a photo of my lunch today (this is for you Capt. Lee!):

Also got some yellow tomatoes that we've picked recently and more on the way:

And plenty of okra that we've picked the past couple of days:
