    How did this happen?

    Any thoughts?

Pulled up the down rigger, popped the rubber band and reeled in the line but there was nothing there. The band didn't break. Lost an umbrella and another white witch. Thats two in two trips. Oh and a pink islander vanished from the boat as well, strange, very strange.

Some sort of toothy critter try a shot of 9 or 8 wire for your bite leader. Lots of wahoo in your waters?

I didn't get back any of the double line so this is way in front of the bait.

Oh and yes there are still a few wahoo around.

Is that line where the rubber band was? That doesnt look like a fish bite off... more like line being over torqued. What size bands are you using? What pound test line is that?

Any chance the mainline twisted up on the down rigger/ cable on the way down?

The line definitly looks like it has some friction damage, how fast are you dropping your down rigger weight?...and are you using cable for your down rigger line?

Double made with a spider hitch and a snap swivel put on with a cats paw, snapped to the spreader with the bait about 4ft behind.

    Jared / Bigfish

It was behind the rubber band, to far back to have touched the cable (I'm using cable on the down rigger)

    It's 30lb Ande blue

I use two thin rubber bands wrapped around the line and into a snap (no release clip)

I pulled alot of line before we went out and there didn't seem to be any chaffing.

I could understand if I got pulled down and it popped but it just broke.
