Can we say lawsuit!!
You know he should make sure it is all done each year BUTTT remember it is the owner who's name the boat is in and his address that the reminder goes to. The OWNER is ultimatly responsible for his boat! It sounds like one of those I THOUGHT YOU GOT THE PERMIT! type of things. It sucks if the crew paid for the entry fee and stuff!if the owner paid it then shame on him it is his own fault. Just dont bash the captain he shares the blame not the sole person responsible.
Somebody still should've checked to see if the paperwork was good. They didn't and I can guarantee that this won't happened to them again.
If he is a part time Capt. I might give a little slack. If he is a full timeOriginally Posted by swancaller
Capt. of that vessal than he deserves every bit of the critisism. A Captain's
Job includes ALL THE LITTLE DETAILS.
This may have been an owner operated boat. In which case the Owner/
Captain is a serious bonehead.

Its multiple responsibility I agree with bith sides. A good captain will always be in the know about stuff like that. The owner is the bottom line person who is resposible to get the permit as it is his boat. I know its on my ask list when I get on a boat but can see it slipping through the cracks. Now I have had the uncomfortable position of being on that one boat I mentioned earlier. Did ask and the guy said yes, when he in fact didn't.
JUST A QUESTION HERE- WHEN YOU SIGN UP AND ENTER A TOURNAMENT, SHOULDN'T YOU HAVE YOUR PERMIT IN YOUR POSSESION AT TIME OF ENTERING?? OR SHOULD THAT BE ONE OF THE RULES WHEN YOU SIGN UP?
The Big Rock web site indicates that TUNA TRAPPE is a Hatteras 50 out of Wilmington, NC, owned by John Lancaster, and captained by Squid Smith.Originally Posted by Bert Rodgers
