The day we had been waiting for, for six months had finally arrived fishing with Capt Brian and Marty on the Run Off. Our group was me and 5 of the guys I work with hoping to get out and put some Mahi in the box. We all met at the dock bright and early, 2 of the guys had flown in from the west coast after attending meetings out there and did get back until midnight, but they were still ready to do it.
As always Capt B and Box were ready to go and off we went. After a nice ride out lines in the water and we start putting fish in the box. Eric who had never been fishing put the first 2 in the boat. It got pretty choppy for a couple of hours mid morning, but we kept putting them in the boat. When all was said and done we put somewhere in the mid twenties of Mahi on ice (I can’t remember the exact count). I think all but about 3 were nice gaffers with only 3 or so slingers.
Capt Brian and Marty were great to work with; they had everyone involved and guided us through all of the tasks. I think that makes it much more enjoyable when everyone is participating. They make sure you are doing it right and in a timely manner, and are all about the next fish, and they do it in a way that makes it fun. It is really cool to see how well these 2 work together and how they can get 6 new people every day working as team with them to put fish in the boat.
Everyone enjoyed themselves; a couple of the guys asked when are we booking the next trip on the Run Off? Maybe if our schedules match up there may be some fall Wahoo killing in our near future.
Another great day on the water with friends. Thanks Capt Brian and Box it was a great day.
Enjoy the video and pictures, we didn’t get as many pictures as we would have liked since it was a little choppy but we got a few.
As always in W2MW, crank this baby up!
Thank you sir! Exactly what we needed. Return to the basics. Gaffers with captain B and the Box is what late May is all about. Fine fishing and reporting!
