I JUST RECEIVED A "WARNING " FROM HOTMAIL.COM THAT I NEED TO SEND AN EMAIL IN 24HRS TO THEM STATING MY USERNAME, PASSWORD AND COUNTRY

THE EMAIL ADDRESS I AM GIVEN TO USE IS TO ANOTHER PERSONS HOTMAIL.COM ACCOUNT


ANYONE ELSE GET THIS? IS THIS FOR REAL? DO I FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THIS? I AM TOLD MY ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED IF I DON'T FOLLOW THROUGH

Let's see, where are the clues that this is a hoax? First, as you stated, the email is from melaniesilva50 rather than the Windows Live Hot mail Team as stated at the end.

Is it grammatically correct? Far from it.

In the first sentence, Email should not be capitalized and Hot mail should be one word (Hotmail). Hot mail Email User Accounts Owner should be no caps instead of all caps. And, to state that the email is being sent "for safety" is not a strong construction. Again, the email starts by stating that it's from "Hot mail Customer Care" but ends by stating it's from "The Windows Live Hot mail Team".

Second sentence: The second sentence begins with "we" which should be caps. The word "congestions" doesn't exist and the word congestion should never be followed by an apostrophe. And I ask myself, how could they possibly have anonymous registrations and why would this be a problem?

Third sentence: "We are sending you this email to you so that you can verify and let us know if you still want to use this account." This is a redundant sentence. "Verify" and "let us know" means the same thing.

Fourth sentence: A comma is missing after the word "interested".

Fifth sentence: User name should be one word and no caps "username".

Second paragraph: "Due to the congestion in all Hot mail users". Again, improper construction. "Hot mail should be one word, and poor choice of the word congestion. It sounds like all Hotmail users have a bad cold, runny nose, sinus problems. Where it states, "Hot mail would be shutting down some Accounts", it should state Hotmail will be shutting down some accounts. "Accounts" should not be capitalized and there should be a period instead of a comma at the end of the sentence. Where it states, "You will have to confirm your E-mail", note that Email should not have caps and now they're using a hyphen between e and mail "E-mail". The word "Login" should not be caps and there should be no comma after the word "or".

Last paragraph: "After following the instructions in the sheet". What sheet are they referring to? It's an email not a sheet! The word "inconveniences" should be singular "inconvenience", not plural.

Other than that, it looks like a perfectly legitimate request. I'm sure more grammatical defects can be found. My point being, this isn't the type of email that professionals distribute.

I get crap like that from accounts I don't and never had. I love the ones from "paypals"... or the official ones that start off "Deer Mr." or "Customer".
Like the calls I get telling me my car is about out of warranty... "Oh really? Thanks for telling me... Which one is it?" "What do you mean you don't know? You called me!" "Oh I hope this isn't a solicitation cause I'm on the do not call list and I have had you on long enough to get a fix on your location..."

The only one I get thats legit is Ebay telling me I have had my password too long and they want me to change it. Well that one hasn't been busted into and I have a hard enough time remembering passwords so I tell them to get bent.
