    BLUE BAIT

We had a nasty little storm here just as we arrived home right before dark. The power was knocked out and wasn't restored until 5 am this morning.

BLUE BAIT is a natural food source for the fishes here. They can be found locally in swampy areas. You gotta look where the pigs root, it seems the pigs like the BLUE BAIT also. OR you can buy them allready cupped up at the LANDING like I did. Cost about $3.25 for 30 baits. If it weren't so dry here there would be more available in the swamp to dig,, when it is dry it tis tough to find them. The shellcrackers love them. I took a pic so you can get an idea what they look like. BLUE BAIT is at the top RED WORM on the bottom.

Great reports, beaglewoman. I grew up catching shellcrackers and bream around Persenti Island, across the river channel from the State Park. Brings back some good memories.

The worm you refer to as bluebait looks like an overgrown manure worm to me. And that gator looks like he is well fed.

    Thanks for the post!

WOW.....small world. Spent two weeks a summer at Ross Barnett at the grandparents...nothing like a cane pole, tube of crickets and a bream bed...fish and chips.
