Hook sizing for deep dropping?

What's a good hook/size to take for big blacks/warsaw? For that matter what's a good bait? Looking over some old commercial notes and it seems they were always stocked up with whole mullet/mackerel, sardines, squid, and I'm sure they sent livies down too..

I should have also stated that I'm talking about circle hooks, as we're no longer allowed to use J-hooks by law . Just not sure what size circle would be right as the gap just doesn't look big enough...

Targeting 500# plus warsaw...

Maybe I'll just thread a 75# AJ on the anchor and send it down

We have used 12-14/0 circle hooks.Feel the bite and crank!

14/0 mustad circle and bridel on a large pinfish or blue runner and hang on.

For the size fish you talking about I wouldn't hesitate to put a 20/0 eagleclaw circle.... and yes a full size AJ filet!
