Holden Beach Report 8-26 w/ pics
I had a half day trip this morning with Perry Ballard and crew from Salisbury, NC. We headed to the Shark Hole in search of king mackerel, and unfortunately, the few we caught were all undersized. However, we did find a good bite of big spanish mackerel with a few mahi mixed in. On the way in, we stopped by ar-445 to barracuda fish. Within 2 minutes of arriving, we caught a live spanish for bait, and was hooked up to a nice 'cuda. 15 minutes later, we had a 25 lb. stinky in the box to use for sharkbait at a later date. I believe final tally for the morning was one cuda, 6 spanish, 4 mahi, 3 under sized kings and one sharpnose shark. The ocean was beautiful, with extremely clear water. The fantastic fall fishing is just around the corner, so book your trip now for world class king mackerel, wahoo and grouper fishing.

Nice work Lyndon. Why can't the ocean look like that when I get down there?

Thanks guys. Robja, it was a typical august day. 3 ft swell on the ride out, which laid down to 1-2 ft by 9:00. I don't believe I've seen the water as blue at the Sharkhole as it was yesterday. Unfortunately, it look like we may be done for a few days. No trip today, then the storm coming. Oh well.
