Holden Beach, NC Fishing Report
After moving my trip this morning to tommorow due to thunderstorms, I booked a short 3 hour spanish trip for this afternoon once the weather cleared. We started trolling right outside the cans, and within 5 minutes had the first one in the box. We continued working to the east, picking up a fish here and there, mixed up between keepers and barely shorts. Made it down to Ocean Crest Pier, and turned around, trolling back to the inlet, slowly picking at them the whole way. I think we ended up with 8 keeper spanish, 3 or 4 bluefish, and 7 or 8 throwback spanish. All in all, not the best trip I've had, but not the worst either. The sea conditions weren't bad at all, 2 ft with the occasional 3 in the mix. I have a 7 hour trip in the morning. We're going to try to find a king mackerel. I'll let everyone know what happens.

Lee, the worst of it was about 3 miles down the beach from the marina. I watched on radar for a while, and it just kept building. Everytime another cell would get within 5 miles in any direction of the main storm, it would get sucked in. That cell wasn't hardly moving at all, it was just sitting there circulating. I'm suprised with the rotation it had there wasn't a tornado. I heard Ocean Isle got something like 5 inches of rain out of it. It was strange. After sitting there spinning for 4 hours or so, it just blew itself out.
