Well guys, the king mackerel bite slowed a bit over the weekend, but was still pretty decent. I say slowed because on tuesday we commercial fished the horseshoe and had around 40 king mackerel between 10 and 15 lbs, a bunch of false albacore, as well as 2 blackfin in the 30 lb. range. On saturday we only had 7 or 8 at the shoe, and another 10 or so at the sharkhole. However, Saturday we were entered in the first annual Holden Beach Merchant Associations king mackerel tourney, and lucked up and won with a 24.5 lber. I went fun fishing today with good friends Edwin and Bruce. We went back to the sharkhole in search of grouper, and it was on. We kept our 3 fish limit and released another 12 gags. We headed on out to 95 ft of water looking for scamps, but ended up catching another nice gag, as well as 8 blackbass in the 2-3lb range, one barely legal red snapper, as well as a few triggers and grunts. My camera is messed up again, but I'll post pics as soon as I get them from the guys that have been fishing with me. I may try to go again tommorow. I'll let you guys know what we do.
Jay, you made the right call. It was NASTY out there, and the kings didn't want to bite. We moved to the Raritan and caught a few, then on to the Sharkhole and caught a few more. Our winning fish came from the Sharkhole.
