Holden Beach Fishing Report

The fishing has been awesome the past few weeks. From spanish and sharks on the beach, king mackerel and amberjack a little further out, and grouper and b-liners in the 40 mile range. The last couple of days, we've caught everything from 300 lb sand tiger sharks to king mackerel close to the 40 lb. mark. Yesterday I had good friends Randy and Daniel on board for a 12 hour trip. The plan was to go to the black jack and see what happens. With the big south swell we had first thing in the morning, we decided to stop short in the 25 mile range and king mackerel fish. We put two low-teen's kings in the box pretty quick, then hooked a huge sand tiger shark. We had no clue what we had until 3 hours and 4.5 miles later, when the big fish surfaced right beside the boat. We'd had enough of that for a while, so we headed on out to around 90 ft. of water to try and find a mahi. The second line in the water got smoked by a nice king, which ended up weighing 33 lbs, 12 oz. After we started back trolling, we hooked up with another big sand tiger, which we released after a 2 hour fight. We'd all had more than enough of fighting huge fish on lite tackle, so we decided to bottom the last 30 minutes before we headed back in. We ended up with our limit of 10 big b-liners in the 3-4 lb range, two grouper, and a couple of other assorted bottom dwellers. Today, I had a 3/4 day trip, and had heard of a good class of fish in 60 ft of water, so we caught bait and headed on out. The first line in the water was absolutely smoked by a big king mackerel, which ended up weighing 39 lbs, 2 oz 6 hours later back at the dock. It was 10 year old Hunter's first ever fish. What a way to get broken in. We stayed hooked for the next 3 hours, ending the day with 10 kings, weighing 39, 29, 27, 5 more over 20, one around 18 and one around 12. We also had a 26" gag grouper hit the downrigger bait at 45 ft. I have a pic of the 39, and my guys from yesterday and today are going to e-mail me pics of the rest of the fish. The fishing is as good as it gets right now, so give us a call and let's go catching.

Thanks everyone. It was one the better big-fish king trips I've had. We were hooked up for the first three hours straight. I'm ready to get back out there.
